Peter Kruzan is the founder of KRUZAN Design Ltd

Trained in traditional English garden design, Mr. Kruzan updates the classical form with an American sense of space and vision, working his magic at locations ranging from city rooftops in London and Manhattan to one of New Orleans' oldest plantations.

He specializes in creating an oasis, a place to escape in the heart of the city or in the midst of a country estate.

A signature of a Kruzan garden is dramatic lighting. Up-lit trees and shimmering water features define the area and bring the garden to life. Geometric forms anchor free-flowing groups of plants, while texture and color mix to supply year-round interest.

Mr. Kruzan came to garden design after a long and distinguished career as Art Director at Doubleday Books in New York City. During his sixteen year tenure there, his work, described by the Wall Street Journal as “groundbreaking“, garnered high-level attention and changed the way business books were packaged and merchandized.

He was a favorite of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who described him as “so talented” and publicly expressed her enjoyment in working with him. He was, in fact, the only person she trusted to coordinate the overall design of the full range of books which she edited.

Mr. Kruzan, who has been described by his peers as “a designer/artist who has a rare creative talent,” and an “extraordinary design talent”, has extensive experience in graphic design, event planning, and floral and design work for corporate and non-profit fund raising events.

Mr. Kruzan is a graduate of the English Gardening School at the Chelsea Physics Garden in the United Kingdom and Skidmore College.
